Does any moment in art arouse more fan fervor than the release of a big-deal pop album? Do you remember when Nothing Was The Same leaked, a.k.a., the night of a thousand live tweets? For a moment we all thought everyone cared about what we had to say, that we were in this moment together whatever. Such is the emotional heft of a big-deal album release.

Marcelo knows. We caught wind of the Bogota-born East Bay performance artist through photographer Matt Reamer’s gorgeous shoot for his upcoming project Pink.

Pure R&B sex face, rweright? But turns out Marcelo is a performance artist packaging his next series of web-broadcasted performances as a sleek pop release. Solo, the first “single” will be streaming Friday early evening while you transition into your weekend. Get to know Marcelo, babes, as he spends hours confined in a straitjacket.

“Freedom through the choice of forced restraint,” he wrote when AHDM4U contacted him to figure out his inspiration behind this first single. “I enter this foreign space willing to let go and embrace the rare and vital moment of just being.” He suggests leaving the live feed on while you go about your Friday night business, putting on lashes and toasting with friends, etc.

He has AHDM4U’s attention, if only because here is a man who understands what kind of imagery makes our synapses fire. “Mythology. Cinema. Romance,” he writes. “How do dream pop icons cope with real private drama? How do they reveal it? How much? How little? Is it in secret codes? A trail of breadcrumbs? Or straight up?”
