WKND UPDATE :: WOMEN!

We know we know AHDM4U, you guys are living your lives like it’s all International Women’s Day. But for a brief estrogen-rife moment on Saturday, the world will be right there with y’all.

Seize this moment. Get to know your local female MCs at Mission Cultural Center’s immersive IWD evening program. Ask for a raise. Sit in a theater full of screeching Clueless fans while drag queens “as if” your feminist woes away. Hug your mom, hand her a personal copy of the Visual Album. Do something that been diminished as women’s work with pride. Read your local independent media empire’s All The Ladies Issue. Tell your friends you love them.

Oh … and believe that we love YOU.

PEACHES CHRIST’S CLUELESS

One of AHDM4U’s favorite movies of all time is having a moment (Iggy, we guess this week’s release shed some light on why your Fillmore show is being scalped for $75/ticket). Case in point: drag cinema legend Peaches Christ is staging the virgin who can’t drive for the Castro crowd. Act fast and you may be able to get tickets to the matinee that was added after the evening show sold out.

NINJA TURTLE PIZZA PARTY

The Roxie just made all your dreams come true, besides that one where you fit into your jeans. The theater is screening 1990’s classic turtle romp alongside an all-you-can-eat pie buffet. Die a little: Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo and Michelangelo will be making an appearance.

WRITERS WITH DRINKS

Writers With Drinks host Charlie Jane Anders

There wasn’t as much onstage inebriation as we may have liked when AHDM4U attended this longrunning writers series last month, but we swooned for host Charlie Jane Anders flowery, 80 percent untrue introduction fables she lovingly crafted for each of her writers. Tonight: Clifford Chase, Rachel Cantor, AV Flox and Melissa Broder read from their recent work.

SUNDAY PRAYERS

And then if you didn’t get enough celebration of the feminine, this. Lex bar babe Kat Marie Yoas brings in DJ Siobhan Aluvalot and her performance partner-in-crime Ben McCoy (you’re gonna hear more about their upcoming two-woman show at the Garage from us don worry) to slang tarot cards at her woo hangout. Kat will be selling her leather-scented, intuitively poured Stevie Wicks candles while you booze and learn about the future.
