I bet you thought I’d forgotten about my boys and butches but no no NO — I’d never do that. Everybody knows that I roll with a constant entourage of boys, and hello! Who would replace her own mother with a drag queen? Chi Chi would, of course. My columns are for everyone, but in this edition I wanted to share some secrets, tips and recipes that work for those of you who don’t wear makeup or grow your hair past your shoulders. Gents, aren’t you glad we’re past the days when skincare products were seen as something that only women used? A healthy regimen is important for everyone, as far as I’m concerned. I went and asked my gaggle of guys for their top beauty concerns. Here’s what we put together for you bbs. Enjoy them, I love ya! Get it. Love it. HASHTAGME
MAKE YOUR OWN NATURAL BEARD OIL Not only does this stuff keep the skin under your beard from flaking, it also gives the hair itself a soft feel and lustrous look — no more scraggly manes here, gentlemen. The simplest way to condition your beard is to use a simple almond or jojoba oil base. Here’s a nice simple recipe for all you bearded fellas. This recipe will make a 10ml bottle.
– 10 drops of patchouli essential oil
– 3 drops of rose geranium essential oil
– 5 drops of lavender essential oil
– 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil
– 7 drops of vitamin E oil
– 50 drops of almond oil
– 100 drops of jojoba oil
SOAK AWAY YOUR INGROWN HAIRS A pesky problem for all of us! As a pro aesthetician, I’m gonna let you in on some secret tips to say goodbye to these little guys. First off, soak the affected area of your skin with a solution made of one part white vinegar and one part water. Let it soak for 10 minutes and then gently rub the area with a wet rag. Once the ingrown hairs have been removed, it’s important to promote healing and keep the area free of infection. Using an antibiotic ointment like Neosporin will help protect the site of the ingrown hairs. An over-the-counter steroid cream like one that contains hydrocortisone can also help by speeding up the time it takes skin to heal.
SMELLY BALLS? There’s no way for me to sugarcoat this so I’m gonna be a little blunt. Does anyone have a problem with smelly balls? First and foremost, it’s important to maintain good personal hygiene. Make sure you completely dry your balls and thighs thoroughly after bathing and don’t forget to powder your thighs! Applying talcum powder to your inner thighs after showering helps soak up excess moisture from sweat, and should get the better of that the foul smell coming from your groin! Problem solved!
SOFT LIPS, FAST Do you get dry, chapped lips? Many of us do, from time to time. Here’s how to make a lip scrub that’s sweet, yummy, and will leave your lips soft and kissable. Everything you’ll need you can find in your kitchen too!
– 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
– 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil
– a drop of honey
STAY YOUNG Moisturizing is very important and makes a world of a difference in skin’s appearance. In fact, people who shave their face tend to need moisturizer more than those who don’t. Every time you scrape that razor across your cheek, you aren’t just removing facial hair, but also necessary oils from your skin. A moisturizer will help to replenish your skin’s moisture content and will help prevent razor burn. Choose a moisturizer that contains SPF to help protect you from ordinary exposure to the sun’s damaging rays. Unprotected sun exposure can lead to pre-mature aging, fine lines, wrinkles and worst of all, skin cancer.
That’s all chickadees! A special thanks to my model for this week’s column, my #1 gay Tom “DJ Carnita” Temprano ❤
