Both artists were granted a residency with AirSpace, a long running queer arts funding program for emerging artists, to produce Cermonious/Uncermonious. Come out and witness both artists as “masters of ceremonies and party crashers” in a dance that promises to be a celebration.
Dia de Los Muertos or Day of the Dead is a traditional Mexican holiday where people come to mourn a lost one, or the lost ones of others. VISIONS AT TWILIGHT: SOMARTS’ DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ALTAR (OPENING RECEPTION FRIDAY. ON VIEW THROUGH NOVEMBER 8 // SOMARTS // MORE) is the Bay Area’s yearly show at SomArts highlighting the genius and creativity of so many local artists in celebration of Day of the Dead. Come witness social protest that stops short of being shrill, and is just right.
San Francisco’s fave queer hip hop party SWAGGER LIKE US (SATURDAY // 9:30PM-2AM // $4 // BEAUX // MORE) is at it again with another edition of their evening hour, booty dropping rage. Come out and party with the fam. Guest DJ Workalook, formerly known as Rapid Fire will be on the one’s and two’s making y’all drip sweat.
How does AIDS and LGBT activist Cleve Jones celebrate his 60th birthday? Obvs, he throws a HUGE party hosted by SF drag celeb Juanita More. CLEVE JONES’ 6OTH BIRTHDAY PARTY (SATURDAY // 9PM-2AM // $5 // THE CAFE // MORE) will be more than a benefit party for the SF Aids Foundation. It will be a celebration about Jones ongoing legacy and work within the LGBT community.

The Unitarians are out to bless your animals, and if you and Baby are down to brave Japantown/Nob Hill Heights, you’ll be able to hear Reverend John Buehrens deliver a homily honored the furred and feathered at BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS (SUNDAY // 2-3PM // FIRST UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST SOCIETY // MORE). Afterwards, the church will bless Baby and apparently a photo of your animal love works just as well too, if Baby doesn’t feel like getting into a car today.
