WKND UPDATE :: MARCH 26-29 :: SPRING HAS SPRUNG

By Kelly Lovemonster

OMG, the weather is getting hella warm and peeps are shedding the many layers of winter. If you happen to be lucky enough to have this magically beautiful Bay Area day off, call in sick and head straight to the nearest beach or park. But if the office has you on lock, no worries ’cause there is an entire weekend full of cute things for you to frolic to.

THURSDAY

CLUB FIST (9PM-2AM // $5 // VINYL OAKLAND // MORE) says farewell to photographer and DJ Sad Boy a.k.a. Manuel Rodriguez. This Oakland party is going to be nothing short of major, with drag performances and our fave Fistette go-go dancers.

FRIDAY

The sexy and hella gay party CLUB PAPI (10PM-3AM // FIRST 75 IN FREE B4 11, $10 AFTER // SF OASIS // MORE) shakes all over California, but tonight it’s in San Francisco. Think Latin go-gos and stiff cocktails. Quiero.

We’ve never really understood what conceptual art is, but tonight SF drag personality Vivvyanne ForeverMORE has returned from her European adventures and she says she’s bringing it to the drag stage. So I guess we’ll learn something at SOME THING (9PM-2AM // $10 // THE STUD // MORE) which will feature some of SF’s most beloved queens, like David More, Boy Young and the reigning Ms. Tiara Sensation, Martha T. Lipton.

SATURDAY

Michelle Tea hosts a reading of her publishing imprint’s latest release — an adorable kid’s alphabet book featuring female role models. The authors Kate Schatz and Miriam Klein Stahl will lead a discussion on how to be rad at the RAD AMERICAN WOMEN A TO Z BOOK PARTY (12:30PM // FREE // CITY LIGHTS BOOKSTORE // MORE), bring your fave lil’ one.

Last year’s Carnaval royalty: Valencia Newton and Delvis Friñon

The Mission District’s Carnaval celebration is coming and tonight its rulers are chosen. Get your tickets STAT to CARNAVAL 2015 KING AND QUEEN CORONATION (7PM // $17 // BRAVA THEATRE // MORE) because everyone wants to watch contestants dance it out for the crown.

DARK ROOM (9PM-2AM // $10 // THE STUD // MORE) is SF’s queer dark wave party and its celebrating its second annual Siousxie tribute tonight. Check for Double Duchess’ Krylon Superstar, performance artist Saturn Rising and reigning faux queen Fauxnique, all doing their best Siousxie covers.

SUNDAY

This Sunday Funday head over the Bay Bridge for QUEERS KICK BALLZ (2PM-6PM // FREE // MOSSWOOD PARK // MORE). Snacks, drinks and costumes are highly encouraged at this chance to take some aggression out on a rubber ball.
